DIRECTOR OF USER EXPERIENCE AND OPTIMIZATION The Director of User Experience and Optimization is responsible for developing strategies and establishing goals and policies for the User Experience and Product Optimization Department. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders throughout the company to proactively gather and understand customer, partner, and stakeholder needs. • Formulate, document, and maintain a product optimization strategy that defines what product optimizations the company will focus on over the next 12 months. • Analyze existing products and features to identify opportunities to increase ROI by improving performance, reducing cost, or increasing sales conversions. • Direct the prioritization, definition, multivariate testing, and execution of product optimization projects. • Compile and maintain a departmental list of product optimizations and feature opportunities to be considered for addition to the list of prioritized projects. • Analyze and document the business case for identified product optimization opportunities. • Track and monitor performance of product optimizations released to production • Conduct market research, analyze web usage data, conduct multivariate tests, and conduct user tests to formulate ideas on improving user interface designs. • Work with developers, system engineers, and QA engineers throughout the product development, testing, and implementation phases to ensure user interface integrity. • Act as main point of contact for any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding product optimization or user interface design. • Work with marketing, merchandising, and sales departments to ensure integrity of product positioning. • Evaluate and recommend improvements to company processes related to product optimization and user interface design. • Directly supervises employees in the User Experience & Optimization department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. • Participate in seminars, meetings and training provided by the company. The ideal candidate will have the following experience and qualifications: • Minimum 5 years of user experience design and user interface design experience. • Minimum 5 years of management experience. • 3 to 5 years experience with managing the design for complex ecommerce web-based systems, and the ability to effectively negotiate interactions between marketing, designers, and engineers. • 3 to 5 years experience with problem solving and delivery of creative solutions-based orientation while keeping focus on the business and customer requirements. • 3 to 5 years experience managing multiple simultaneous projects, delivering results on time and on budget. • Must have a solid understanding of user interface standards, limitations, and technologies; and a broad understanding of complex, consumer-oriented systems and the methods for their creation, including information architecture, persuasive design, participatory design, rapid prototyping, human factors, and user testing. • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University or equivalent work experience. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Outlook, Visio, Graphic Editors, and HTML design tools.
